Manju Chattopadhyay

Manju Chattopadhyay was born in Cooch Behar, India. At a young age, she began practicing Madhubani, a traditional folk art created by women on mud walls using natural dyes, fingers, twigs, and nib pens. She also performed as a dancer, stage actress, and musician- a passion she continued to explore after moving from India to Singapore and eventually to Hawaii. In 2017, she relocated to Santa Fe with her husband, who began working as a glassblower at Prairie Dog Glass. Manju soon joined him in the studio and began incorporating colored glass into her mosaics. The themes and color palettes of her work are often rooted in the culture of her homeland.

In the studio, Manju collects cutoffs and broken pieces, kiln-fusing them into elements for her mosaics. In addition to these works, she also creates kiln-formed glass pieces using a variety of fusing and slumping techniques.
